I am absolutely loveing Battledrone Galactastar, but I have a problem with some of its implausibilities. No, not the human-looking robots or strangely elegant space fights. The thing that pulls me out of the Gardnerian narrative dream is the fact that there seems to be a twenty person press corp, assembled within days, pulled from just 50,000 human beings remaining. Statistically, that might make some sense. Maybe.
So, ok say there even are twenty reporters. Who are they reporting for??? There are no more newspapers, publishers, or websites. There’s no TV. So who are you reporting for? Why do you all have mics and notepads and, like, everything just short of a fedora with a press card tucked into the band? So weird.

They are CITIZEN JOURNALISTS, obviously, and you are looking at the future of news. Clay Shirky would be proud.

Not pictured: the thousands of Redditors who have “hacked” into the “net” and are right now proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that this press briefing does not, in fact, exist.
