Facebook Averaged Almost 8 New Registrations Per Second In 2010
If there are 147 million Facebook users in America (and they are mostly not fake), that means almost half of the US population (and over 60% of the population with an e-mail address) is on Facebook. In contrast, MySpace only ever achieved a 25% market penetration, and let’s not even talk about Friendster. Even AOL, at its peak, barely reached 10%. It would be interesting to see some more things here, like how many younger Americans are on Facebook, or what percentage of accounts provide different levels of personal information, but that would involve Facebook giving out data to anyone besides corporations, and we all know they don’t do that.
In an unrelated point, what does it say about the state of pop music that the #1 pop presence on Facebook is a dead person?
