If you saw the new crop of SNL men a few years back and thought Bill Hader would turn out to be such a gem—well, you’re more perceptive than I am.  But man, he has just been on fire lately.  In movies, mainly (did we talk about Adventureland at all?), but it might be coming out on SNL a bit too.  His James Carvile impression is brilliant because it is fundamentally indistinguishable from an actual James Carville appearance.  Everyone else’s impressions on SNL involve taking a celebrity and making them into a caricature, exaggerating their tics and having them say stupid things.  But when Hader does Carville, he just acts exactly like Carville and says more or less what Carville would already say, but slowly escalates the off-ness of the statements—but again, in more or less a way you could envision Carville doing himself if didn’t think too many people were watching.  It’s extremely well-done.
