Here is a song from the album. It is called “Do Smurfs Cry” and is about how Smurfs cry, but also they are…happy? I wonder if this is how Dutch people my age feel when they listen to, like, “Harper Valley PTA” or something, because whatever I am supposed to be feeling or thinking in reaction to this song is utterly inaccessible to me. It’s just very, very confusing; I feel like I’m listening to something in a museum without the explanatory card. It is a schmaltzy, melancholy three-step ballad about Smurfs, and everyone in the entire world loved it once.
